HELP BY PROVIDING A FOSTER HOME
The number of dogs and cats UAF can save is determined by the number of Foster Homes that are available.
One of the most satisfying things you can do is to see your Foster Animal find a wonderful permanent home. Many people feel that they could never give up an Animal they were Fostering, and many do Adopt their first Foster. But the realization that you must let them go to be able to save more animals is a powerful motivator.
UAF respects the bond that forms between the Foster and the Animal, and always tries to make sure that the Foster is happy with the Adoptive Home.
Would you like to be a Foster? If you are interested in Fostering, please know that UAF will provide donation money to cover all veterinary bills and medication costs. UAF will also supply food, bedding, toys, crates, collar and leash, if needed. All that is required from you is your safe and loving home, a fenced backyard, compliance with our training protocols.
If it's possible for you to transport your Foster Animal to and from appointments and to participate at your Foster's Adoption Events, that is always best. After all, you'll know your Foster Animal better than anyone. However, if you can't do that, UAF has a team of Volunteers who will transport and help at Adoption Events.

So join us in helping our community save our Homeless Animals and making adopters as happy as Rachelle by contacting the Foster Coordinator in your area.
Read the Dog Foster Guidelines or the Cat Foster Guidelines for information to guide you through the fostering process. Prior to bringing home a Foster Animal, a Foster Home Application or Cat Foster Application must be completed by Foster Parent and a Home Visit Report completed by a UAF "Qualified Friend".
Once a Foster Animal is in your home, it is necessary to maintain a Foster Care Record.
Here are Pre-Adoption Questions you can use to help screen a potential Adopter for your Foster Animal and then have them fill out the appropriate Pre-Adoption Questionnaire (Dog or Cat ).
A potential Adopter of a Foster Animal must fill out the appropriate Adoption Application (Dog or Cat) and a UAF "Qualified Friend" must complete a Home Visit Report.
